Betting odds
New changes look to be in the running in the United Kingdom with majority of bookmakers looking to change their odds fully from the preferred fractions to purely decimal.
The news will disappoint the majority of those who love to delve in the betting market and it looks as though the changes are going to be made because of the younger audience that are now beginning to bet. The youngsters, it seems, are not as hot on fractions as one would have hoped with confusion caused on anything that is odds on or even mildly complicated.
As a brief example 6/4 would now be placed as 1.5/1 and 100/30 changed to 3.33/1. It will anger many of the old timers that know their maths who will now have to work out why the betting board is full of decimals but many will feel that those who do not understand fractions should simply learn, as they did at school.
In a move that was always going to divide betting parties, it was always on the cards that this was going to happen at some point although many bookies, specifically those that attend each race meeting when it comes to horse racing may stick with fractions or even provide both in the hope of attracting those not familiar with maths.
Fractions, as it once did at school does have the tendency to scare people off and a decimal version will give punters the opportunity to discover exactly what they might win rather than having to do the fractional maths in their head before deciding whether to bet or not.
